How NOT To Irritate People When Promoting Your Event

Angry KidOf course, the whole reason you started using social media is because you heard what a wonderful tool it is for marketing. And as an event planner or producer you want to milk it for all it's worth.

But hang on there, eager beaver. If you take the wrong approach, you can alienate the very people you want to attract!

For many of us it's a leap, but to use social media effectively we have to take a human to human approach. This means YOU should embody the brand you are trying to promote and engage with others in a way that makes them like you and thereby your event.

To ensure your effectiveness on social media, you'll need to identify the social media platforms where your potential attendees are engaging. Once you've done this, you'll want to adopt a strategy that is consistent.

Things you should definitely NOT do include:

* Broadcast promotional messages non-stop.

* Never promote anyone or anything other than your event.

* Take no notice of the different ways people engage on each social media platform.

* Avoid one on one conversations.

For three very important tips for promoting your event without irritating people, check out this blog post I wrote for Cvent.
