1) They are a great source of content for your pages
Organizations such as ISES, NACE, MPI, GMIC, and WIPA and publications like BizBash, Special Events, and Meetings and Conventions post industry related article and blogs. They streamline your search for interesting and relevant content for you social media accounts. In a nutshell they are offering up free content for you.
2) There is an increased likelihood of having your events and business being noticed and recognized
If the organization or publication is paying attention to their social media accounts and engaging with their fans and followers, they are more likely to notice all the amazing work you do. The process is reciprocal. You also need to be a conversationalist. You need to share content. You need to show people what you do, and maybe they will show you off. You need to be a willing participant when they offer free ways you to be noticed.
3) They hold a level of authority in the event professionals community
If an industry organization is willing to flaunt your work, you better be darn proud. And here is the key to all of this; You need to shout your accomplishments from the rooftops.
4) They have bigger and more diverse following of event professionals than you do
You work has the potential to be shared with event professionals all over the world. Instantly the volume of businesses and individuals who are exposed to you is almost limitless. Following other businesses from that larger more diverse fan base is something else you need to be doing. You need to encourage your colleagues’ goals. You need to celebrate their accomplishments.
5) They provide inspiration for your events
By following other event professionals achievements and work. You could potentially find an amazing idea from an event someone else designed and produced. You will be exposed to new ideas and event planners. You never know when an idea may be sparked or connection made.
6) They are an educational resource
Event professionals work with trends. And as everyone knows, trends tend to come and go. Industry organizations and publications stay on top of the latest and greatest events and decor. Constant education is required and staying stagnant is not what your business needs. You need to continue to learn. You need to be willing to take risks.
Also, remember that industry organizations are more likely to promote their members than they are about non-members. Understand that this is a value of your organization that, members need to be taking advantage.
